Mercedes C. Mordeno

Mercedes C. Mordeno, 96, went to be with the Lord on February 28, 2025, in Houston, Texas. She was born on January 31, 1929, in Agusan del Sur, Philippines to Raymundo and Salvadora Curato. She worked and retired as an elementary teacher. On 1993, she left the Philippines and resided in San Francisco, California and in Texas.

On December 24, 1953, she married Filemon Plaza Mordeno which lasted for 65 years. They have ten children, Elsa Fabillion, Flora Benigay, Florencio Mordeno, Edna Santos, Celienda Tanega, Florcito Mordeno, Floro Mordeno, Gemma Floro, Nena Evangelista, and Claro Mordeno. She was a loving affectionate and admiring mother and grandmother to her thirty-four grandchildren and forty great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, nine siblings and her son.

A visitation for Mercedes will be held Thursday, March 6 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the chapel at Earthman Southwest Funeral Home, 12555 South Kirkwood Road in Stafford.

A celebration of life will occur Thursday, March 6 at 11:00 a.m., also in the chapel at Earthman Southwest Funeral Home, 12555 South Kirkwood Road in Stafford.

A committal service will occur Thursday, March 6, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive in Houston.
