Nancy Nielsen Benevides, 50 years old, passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2017, in Houston, Texas, after a year-long battle with stage IV renal cell carcinoma. She was surrounded by her family and her beloved children, who made it home from Texas Tech University to comfort her on her last day.
Nancy was a graduate of Old Dominion University and started her career as a high school teacher in Virginia Beach, Virginia, where she met her husband John. They married in 1992. Her daughter Amber was born in 1996, followed by her son Reece in 1997. Her husband’s career took them to Houston in 1996, where Nancy spent her children’s formative years shaping them to become the responsible adults they are today. In 2006, a career change led her to the Real Estate Industry. In just a few short years, Nancy became one of the top producing Realtors in the State of Texas winning numerous awards and accolades. In 2014, she and her husband opened their own firm, Benevides & Associates, where she not only continued to sell at the highest levels, but also was able to mentor her associates with all the knowledge and skills she possessed.
On her personal time, Nancy loved playing tennis and working out. She was involved in various charitable organizations, social clubs, business networks, school functions and a myriad of other activities. In her spare time, she enjoyed time at the beach, her condo in the Texas Hill Country, and being on her boat.
