Olivia Luera

She is preceded in death by her husband Elogio Luera , sister Landa Spears, brother Charro Flores, parents Elpidio and Hortencia Flores, she is survived by her sister Olga Alcala, brother, Oscar Flores, children, Margo Luera, Elsa Villarreal and husband Israel, Joe Luera and wife Olivia, Michael Luera, David Luera and wife Aurora, 10 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.

Olivia was born in Del Rio, Texas, she was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was well known for her cooking, best fried chicken ever, potato salad, tamales, spanish rice, beans, cheese enchiladas and numerous mexican dishes, she put a lot of love into each dish.

She was always reading medical articles and would take our temperature, give medications at bedside and would encourage us to drink plenty of fluids and always served us chicken noodle soup when we had a cold. She would frequently monitor us like a nurse and because she was always informing us of the latest health recommendations we affectionately called her Dr. Luera.

She enjoyed gardening, planting flowers like my father but had her own ideas on where they should go, they were a team but sometimes going in different directions requiring a replanting.

She joined the YMCA wearing color coordinated exercise outfits with matching cap. For years she would brag on how agile and flexible she was, jumping up and down and sitting down on the floor with legs crossed, she would easily get up.

She always made sure she had little gifts for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren for Valentine's Day and Easter.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 24, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m., in the chapel at Earthman Southwest Funeral Home, 12555 South Kirkwood Road in Stafford.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday March 25, 2022, guest to arrive at 10:30 a.m., funeral mass to start at 11:00 a.m., in the chapel at Earthman Southwest Funeral Home, 12555 South Kirkwood Road in Stafford.
