Just a quick note that I am in my happy place! At 92 years of age, I thought I knew happiness; I was married to Cliff Cawood, my high school sweetheart, for 53 years. Together we had our darling daughter, Kathy, and our, bouncy baby boy, Kevin. Then, more happiness came with the arrival of all my precious grandchildren, Valerie, Timothy, Colleen, Ben, Dan, and Sarah. Eventually, even more happiness came with the gifts of nine great grandbabies.
I loved my hometown, St. Louis, MO. It was there that many cherished memories of playful and precious times with my brothers, Tommy (deceased), Jim, Mick, and sisters, Rita (deceased), Nomie (deceased) were built. So much laughter and silliness.
I enjoyed the adventure in moving to Chicago, Portland, OR, Wichita Falls, TX and Houston, a lasting, humid, home! There were so many wonderful new friends to create more memories.
I found joy and contentment in my faith and church family. My work with the Senior Council at St. Francis de Sales was as fulfilling as distributing Communion to Clarewood House residents.
I took pride in my retail career selling perfumes. Competing with other sales associates and beating them took me to a new happy place. Foley’s and Saks Fifth Avenue were other homes for me for nearly 20+ years.
I was pretty creative with the different hobbies I pursued: quilling, tole painting, macramé, sewing, making religious Christmas ornaments and rosaries (all of which the pope requested), and gardening.
DISCLAIMER: Our mom was a most kind, gentle, sweet, and loving mom. She touched many lives by modeling grace, compassion, and humor. She loved life and we hope she would grin at this tribute.
