Patty Sue Spade

Patty was born in Beckley, West Virginia on December 27, 1945 to Cecil Raymond and Thelma Ruth (Orren) Rice. After graduating from Woodrow Wilson High School in Beckley, Patty married the love of her life, Richard Earl Spade on June 22, 1963 and moved to Charleston, South Carolina, then to the Houston, Texas area.

In November 1971 Richard and Patty moved to the now Meadows Place, Texas where they lived and made their home for 51 years. Richard passed away November 10, 2008.

In 1991 Patty began working for the Meadows Utility District and later for the City of Meadows Place as the water department until her retirement in 2016 after 25 years. Patty was a voracious reader, avid gardener, and a multiple Meadow’s Garden Club Yard of the Month recipient. She enjoyed neighborhood walks, bunco and adventures with her circle of friends.

Patty spent the last two years of her life as a resident of Ten Oaks Assisted Living in Lawton, Oklahoma to be near her daughter. She enjoyed time with family, attending movies, ball games, plays and musicals.

Patty is preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, and her parents. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Rogers of Lawton, Oklahoma; son, David Spade and daughter in law, Jennifer of Pearland, Texas; grandchildren: Justin and wife Caley, of Edmond, Oklahoma; Meagan Spade of Katy, Texas; John Rogers, of Stillwater, Oklahoma; Emily and Sarah Spade, of Pearland, Texas; and great grandchildren, Vivian and Silas of Edmond, Oklahoma, sister, Mary Catherine Halstead, of Shawnee, Kansas, brother-in-law, Howard Spade and wife, Jeanette of Meadows Place, Texas; brother-in-law, Bill Spade and wife, Barbara of Parkville, Missouri, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
