Born in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania, Chris was the youngest child of the late Lloyd and Lenore (Bigger) Fink. He graduated from Newport Township High School in 1967, where his yearbook listed his ambition as “to secure a job and make the most of his life.” He most certainly did!
Chris earned his degree in Electrical Engineering from Penn State Harrisburg in 1971 and went on to live a life marked by purpose, adventure, and kindness. His career took him and his family across the globe—from three years in Saudi Arabia to a permanent home in Stafford, Virginia, where they settled in 1980.
Over the course of his distinguished career, Chris contributed to projects of national and international importance, including dam reconstruction and embassy restoration. His work with the U.S. State Department took him to more than 70 countries, and along the way he had the rare and humbling honor of spending an afternoon with Mother Teresa. He retired in 2013 after decades of dedicated service.
Chris’s greatest joy was always his family. He was a proud father and husband, and a man who loved to laugh and to make others laugh. He was his daughter’s softball coach. They even won the Girl Scout Father-Daughter dessert competition with their legendary peanut brittle. That same peanut brittle became a signature of his generosity, always shared with love and humor.
In addition to his parents, Chris was preceded in death by his beloved wife, brother, and sister. He is survived by his devoted daughter and son-in-law, as well as three sisters who will carry his memory forward.
Chris lived a life rich in love, laughter, and integrity. His warmth, wit, and adventurous spirit touched everyone who knew him. He will be forever missed.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Service, Stafford Chapel. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
