Nécrologie de Clinton Pretty Sr.
Clinton Pretty Sr., age 69, of Fredericksburg, Virginia passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2023. On July 18, 1953, CLINTON LANDORS PRETTY was born to the family of the late Aaron Samuel Pretty, Sr., and the late Elizabeth Lee Pretty. He was the second son, born to the family. Clint as his family called him, grew up in the Cook Road area and attended Durham County Schools and during this time, he found his passion for Art. After graduating, Clint enlisted in the U.S. Army from June 12, 1973 to July 14, 1977. After receiving his Bootcamp training, he was assigned to Fort Bragg and was deployed to KOREA. After discharge from the Army, Clint furthered his education at NCCU, majoring in Art. Bounded and determined to make his dream as a professional Artist a reality, he decided to move to Washington, DC to attend the Corcoran School of Arts, where he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. As one of the members of the graduating Class of 1983, he was featured in the Portfolio from the Corcoran featuring his work of a cedar model automobile with pine trim and with two passengers that had wine bottles for bodies and funnels for heads. Clint was noted as a satirist in the tradition of Swift, Mark Twain, Paul Cadmus, and Chester Hines. In May 1983, after graduating from the Corcoran, Clint became employed at the Giant Grocery Food Chain, where he worked 30 plus years, as a grocery clerk and night captain, where he supervised his own crew until he retired on October 1, 2017. To Clint, retirement meant he could spend most of his time in his studio and time he did spend. His love for his family matched his passion for art. As the resident family artist, he had the vision to build a family ship to commemorate our family tree. In its infancy, the ship was small and each year, it grew and grew, until its current length of over 12 feet long from bow to stern. He was preceded in death by his parents, Aaron S. Pretty, Sr, and Elizabeth Lee Pretty, his sister, Deborah Pretty, and his son, Jeremy T. Pretty. His grandparents, Aaron Lee Pretty, Luetta Sims (Joseph); and Louise Harvey (John Oliver) and his uncles, Fred Lee Pretty, Jairus C.
