Corinne was born on 07 Feb 1935 in Clarksburg, WV to Harold and Ella Lawrence. Shortly after graduating high school in 1952, Corinne moved to northern Virginia to work as a civil servant in the Pentagon, where she met and married her future husband, William Potvin in 1956. They went on to have 5 children. In the early 1960s, Corinne decided to leave the civil service to focus on raising her family full time.
Corinne spent her life raising her children and volunteering in myriad ways. Little League Baseball, the Knights of Columbus, and the Dale City Volunteer Fire Department Ladies’ Auxiliary were just some of her volunteering passions, dedicating tens of thousands of hours to her community and friends. In her later years, she found a love for slot machines, coordinating bus trips to Atlantic City and spending many hours enjoying herself and spending time with friends. She enjoyed frequent lunches with her lady friends whom she met through all these activities over the years.
Corinne was preceded in death by her husband William and sons Frank, William II, and Christopher. She is survived by 2 sons, Chris and Brian, as well as 4 grandchildren; Amanda, Ailynn, Brian II, and Delia Corinne, and her loving, dedicated, and compassionate daughter-in-law Hildamar Garza Potvin, who dedicated the previous 7 years of her life to caring full time for Corinne as only a daughter can.
In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to the Alzheimer’s Association in honor of William Potvin, or to the American Lung Association in Corinne’s honor.
