

He is survived by his mother Carol Bolton; father Joseph Bolton; twin sons Michael & Andrew; three brothers, Joseph (Ret. Army Lt. Col.) of New Hartford, NY, Peter of Queensbury, NY and Patrick of Vorheesville, NY; one sister Charlene Lanier of Cohoes, NY and many aunts and uncles and extended family members.
He recently retired as a Lt. Col. in the Army after 21 years of service. He had an extensive list of medals and awards: Kuwait Liberation Medal, Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (6th award), Army Achievement Medal (2nd award), Joint Meritorious Unit award and Army Reserve Components Achievement Award.
He completed his undergraduate degree at Norwich University in Northfield, VT and recieved his masters degree from SUNY Albany in Albany, NY. He continued his education in the military through Airbourne Airlift CRS, Ranger School, 1987 Planners CRS, 1991, Combined Arms & Services Staff School, 1998, CGSC Nonresident, 2003, Inf Off Basic, 1989, Infantry Off Adv, 1997, Joint Plan Orientation, 2000, Light Ldrs CRS, 1989, Natio Staff Off Orientation CRS, 2000 and Pathfinder CRS, 1989.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Friday, November 15, 2013 at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, Stafford chapel. A funeral mass will be held Saturday, November 16, at 2p.m. at St. William of York Catholic Church. The burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family is suggesting donations to The ALS Association or Wounded Warriors Project.
David was not just a Military soldier, but a soldier of Christ Jesus our God. The strength and perseverance that he showed to all around him during his illness gave witness to his great Catholic faith.
