

Evelyn Lois Cokinos Dittmann, long time resident of Stafford County, passed away on Monday, Nov. 29, 2010 at MWH. She is the daughter of Anna Geiger-Cokinos and Luis Cokinos of Chicago, IL.
She is survived by her five sons, Wayne R. Dittmann, Jr. and wife, Judy, Robert L. Dittmann and wife, Jureeporn, Dan D. Dittmann and wife, Luisa, Dale D. Dittmann, and his wife, Mary, Darryl D. Dittmann, fourteen grand children and two great-grand children.
Evelyn’s Motto: “Never Say No to Help Family and Community”
She encouraged family togetherness and community support, always finding the time and energy for others. She was a tremendous service to a growing Stafford County and committed to the military auxiliary services. Evelyn was a Rosie-the-Riveter in WWII and contributed to National WWII Memorial. When Stafford County started to grow in the early 60’s, it was just the beginning of a very busy life of dedication. Evelyn supported 4-H as a Leader and the Boy Scouts as a Den Mother, the start of her caring commitment to her family of young boys and community service. She produced and Directed Circle W Rodeo and Horse Shows and held a Camporee for Boy Scouts at her White Oaks Farm on Stefaniga Road. She was a Life Member, two years President and Lady of the Year of American Legion Auxiliary, a Life Member MAG 25, Scat Veterans, Member Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, Jacksonville, NC, Member 8/40 American Legion Auxiliary, Member Ladies Auxiliary Fleet Reserve Association, Unit 208, Life Member Marine Corps League Auxiliary, Life Member California Order of the Eastern Star, Unit 602, 29 Palms, CA, Life Member of Military Widows, Life Member Culpeper Angles, Life Member Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, Life Member Confederate Air Force, Life Member Retired Officers Association, Member of Hartwood Resident Association, Life Member PTA, Stafford, Two years President of Hartwood PTA, President of Roseville Extension Homemakers Club, Served seven years as Vice Chairman on Stafford County Parks and Recreation Committee and assisted in the founding of Curtis Park in Hartwood, Virginia, Member of Stafford County Senior Citizen Council, Recipient of Florence D. Helms Award, a life-time achievement award for community service, Whos Who 2008, Grandmother of the Year 2009, Ruritan “Citizen of the Year”, Past Deacon and Elder and past active member Women of the Church, Hartwood Presbyterian Church, Christmas Kettle Program, American Legion Food Drive, Collected funds for decades for Red Cross, Heart Association, American Cancer Society, Christmas support for Salvation Army – Dressing Dolls at Christmas, Assisted with Meals-on-Wheels, School Support for Field Day and Varsity Sports, School Support for Hartwood Elementary School and an active supporting member of the Rappahannock Big Brothers & Big Sisters program at that school, Contributed to the Hope House Festival of Trees for three years, known for her patriotic red, white, and blue tree.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Friday, December 3, 2010 at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, Stafford Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 4, 2010 at Hartwood Presbyterian Church 50 Hartwood Church Road, Fredericksburg, VA 22406. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
