He was born on November 29, 1954 in Gloversville, NY, the son of the late Herbert and Virginia Nellis. His brother, Steven Nellis preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Judith A. Nellis of Stafford, VA; son, Gary A. Nellis, Jr and wife Jessica of Martinsburg, WV; two brothers, Kevin W. Nellis and Michael Nellis; two sisters, Cheryl Peeler and Karen Dence.
Mr. Nellis served in the U.S. Navy retiring in 1992 as a Chief Petty Officer. In his retirement years, he enjoyed being an avid outdoorsman and grandfather to his 3 grandchildren; Taylor, Grayson, and Camden.
Graveside service with Military Honors will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, September 15, 2022 at Quantico National Cemetery.
