

On June 10, 1942, Robert Elmore Pixton and Josephine Catherine (Panholzer) Pixton welcomed their daughter, Hazel Betty Pixton into the world. Betty was an only child who was born raised in Washington DC.
After graduating high school, she worked for the Department of Agriculture. She married Norman Harold Dingess in 1964. Together they raised their four sons in Stafford County Virginia.
Around 1980, Betty began working at Woolworth. Later she worked for the Safety Office of the United States Marine Corps and retired in 2004.
As an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since 1978, Betty was an avid genealogist. She helped many family members with their family history. For a time, she worked as a paid genealogist too.
Betty was a big supporter of the marching band. She enjoyed playing parcheesi and attending school events with her grandchildren. Betty was very generous, giving freely and expecting nothing in return. Everyone was welcome in her home, and she loved to sit and visit with anyone who dropped in.
On March 6, 2026, Betty passed away in Front Royal, Virginia. Betty is predeceased by her husband, Norman Harold Dingess who died in 1997.
She is survived by her sons: Robert Norman Dingess (Tabitha) of Mount Olive NC; James Everett Dingess (Heather) of Mount Storm WV; Thomas Allen Dingess of Tooele UT; and David Adam Dingess (Elisabeth) of Front Royal VA. At the time of her death, Betty had nine grandchildren, two step-granddaughters, and 4 great-grandchildren.
Visitation at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Service, Stafford Chapel on Friday, March 13 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
Visitation from noon to 1:00 PM and funeral will follow at 1:00 PM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 161 Eustace Road in Stafford Virginia on Saturday, March14.
Interment will be at Stafford Memorial Park immediately following the funeral, 189 Shelton Shop Road in Stafford, Virgina.
