Nécrologie de Howard Kevin Decatur Sr.
Howard “Kevin” Decatur, Sr., 55 of Stafford County passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 26, 2019 with his loved ones by his side. Diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer, his almost 6 year battle was his family’s battle from the start and not once did he let cancer defeat him. Strength arose from the pain, Faith carried him through the fight, Family was his support and motivation to keep fighting, and his grandchildren were his love, his laughter, and his light. Kevin was loved by all who knew him. He loved working on cars, NASCAR was his second love; a die hard Jeff Gordon fan from the beginning, and bled DuPont colors every race day, tough Redskins fan, and was an expert in all areas of HVAC. He was always the first call made if anyone needed help, they knew he always made good on his word and settled for nothing less than perfect in everything he did. Kevin faced many struggles but took on life’s most difficult challenges with broad shoulders, positive attitude, and an unwavering will to succeed; not just for himself, but most importantly for his family, there was nothing he couldn’t do. He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Allen Decatur; and his mother, Diana Gail Jett. He is survived by the love of his life and center of his world, his wife,Penny; together they have a daughter, Jessica Roberts and husband Johnny Roberts Jr.; a son, Howard “Kevin” Decatur Jr. and fiancé Katie Bratton; 6 grandchildren, John, Noah, Kaylee, Tayler Rae, Kinley, and Malakai; brothers, Michael “Mike” Decatur and wife Risa, and Daniel “Danny” Decatur and wife Bridgit; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, Stafford. A Funeral Service will be held at 1 pm on Thursday, October 3, 2019 in the funeral home chapel.
