Born on August 16, 1927, in Winooski, Vermont to Armenian immigrants, Simon & Victoria Bedrosian, John grew up to become a deeply humble and kind person dedicated to service. A career military man, he served in three wars, first in the Navy and then the Marine Corps. After his retirement from the military, he continued to serve his country as a systems analyst for the Federal government, as well as helping his wife run several successful businesses.
In retirement, he enjoyed cruising with his wife, fishing unsuccessfully, gardening with slightly more success, and holding his own at cribbage. His other lifelong interests included motorcycles, cars, watching old movies, and cheering for Washington sports teams. Additionally, he was a lifetime member of the Lake Ridge and Stafford Lions’ Clubs and active participant of the Rowser Senior Citizen Center (where he greatly enjoyed playing card games).
John is survived by his wife of 71 years, Annie Bedrosian, two children, Victoria (Steven) Brice and Arsen Gregory Bedrosian, his two granddaughters, Taryn (Aaron) Rowland and Melissa Brice, as well as his great-grandson, Bastian Rowland, and sister Carol Mesrobian. He was preceded in death by his son, Peter Bedrosian, and will be laid to rest with him in Arlington National Cemetery.
A service will be held in his honor for friends and family at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service in Stafford on August 17th at 1:00pm.
He was loved by all who knew him, and he’ll be greatly missed every day. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank.
