Marilyn Kay Phillips, 90, of Stafford, Virginia passed away on January 29, 2023, after succumbing to the debilitating effects of Covid. She was born on August 27, 1932, in Gallipolis, Ohio to the late Merrill Francis Phillips and Marguerite Faye (Franklin) Phillips. Her family moved to Columbus, Ohio at the outbreak of World War II and she remained in Columbus until 2020. Marilyn is preceded in death by her brother, Charles Merrill Phillips, sister-in-law Carolyn Phillips, and sister Donna June Phillips. Marilyn was a kind, gentle soul with a strong devotion to her family. She graduated high school and began a clerical career at North American Rockwell in the aircraft industry. She took early retirement to selflessly take on caregiving responsibilities for her father and subsequently became a caregiver to both her mother and sister. Marilyn was a long-time member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was also a member of Riverside United Methodist Church in Upper Arlington, Ohio. During her prime years, Marilyn enjoyed teaching ceramics, gardening at her home, participating in church activities, and connecting with family. Marilyn is survived by three generations of nieces and nephews and several cousins. She will be remembered for her quiet strength and perseverance in facing the many challenges life presented to her. Marilyn’s sense of humor and positive outlook brought laughs and smiles to her family. She was loved and will be missed. A graveside memorial service will be held at Mound Hill Cemetery in Gallipolis, Ohio on February 11, 2023, at 2:00 PM.
