Ruth was my friend for more than 30 years.  Her warmth, hospitality, and kindness will always be remembered with affection.  I can't begin to count the times I, my late wife Patricia, and my wife Suzanne, were guests of Ruth and Mike, and the many times we all shared lunch or dinner at a restaurant.  

Mike, I understand your grief, but hope it is some comfort to know that your beloved Ruth will always live on in the memories of her many friends who loved her.





Ruth was humanity, compassion, and grace at it’s finest.
She had such a youthful personality, and heart full of love, laughter,
and boundless energy.
I never heard Ruth speak ill of anyone nor complain. 
Ruth greatly loved and cared for all animals.
She absolutely loved socializing with her friends and graciously hosted so many gatherings at their lovely home...a visit from Santa, the Easter bunny, and of course, the luaus!
I think I will hold most closely my memories when some of us ladies
from Ruth’s circle of friends, (AKA “The Ruth Carlone Fan Club “)
Would meet for lunch, laughter, and conversation.
When Ruth brought out the crayons and paper, and asked us to draw pictures, usually an animal, we’d whine and complain, but then because it was Ruth, we would comply...then laugh hysterically at 
then laugh hysterically at the results! Rest well, dear Soul❤️

Although I never had the privilege of meeting Ruth in person, I feel like I have known her based upon the many  accounts I have heard over the past decade of my friendship with her daughter, Lori, of Ruth’s numerous acts of kindness, compassion and generosity as well as her community activism.

Ruth’s genuine  care and concern for other living beings,  be they human or otherwise, is a true testament to an exceedingly well-lived life 
and  an exceptional spirit that is now in a place of perfect peace and joy.

Ruth was an activist for Stafford County Virginia.   She often highlighted and spoke about issues affecting Stafford before the Stafford Board of Supervisors, et.al.  She always publicly championed issues that would benefit Stafford.   Ruth will be surely missed. 

I am very saddened with the passing of Aunt Ruth.  I have many fond memories of travels to visit her and Uncle Mike at their home in Virginia.  I remember hours of pool time in their backyard and playing with the many animals on their property.   I even recall many nights of karaoke as they hosted parties at their home.  Aunt Ruth was always a gracious host.  Her kind hearted spirit and advocacy for causes close to her heart will live on in those she touched.

I'm saddened of the Passing of my friend Ruth Carlone.
 
Ruth has been  an activist in Stafford for 40 years. She helped save the Little Red Barn near the Hartwood VFD. For many years, Ruth helped organize t he Little Red Barn Christmas program and Celebrate Stafford Days.
 
Ruth served 8 years as Director on the Crime Solvers Board, 4 years as a member of the Stafford Student Advisory Council, 3 years as Potomac Watershed Council, Served on the Potomac Roundtable and many other organizations that are too many to name. 
 
Ruth was very kind and generous giving to many causes. She was also very knowledgeable on issues in Hartwood and Stafford County. Ruth founded Citizens to Serve Stafford and Served 4 years on the Stafford Planning Commission representing the Hartwood District.
 
Ruth was elected Director of the Soil and Water Conservation District. She Retired after 24 years with the Department of Defense.
 
In 2013, when Stafford Supervisors Secretly changed the law and approved a Tire Incinerator at the landfill, I asked Ruth for help to organize "Stafford Citizens for Open Government". We succeeded in getting the Supervisors to unanimously reverse their approval for the Tire Incinerator.
 
I will always remember Ruth as a person that anyone could go to for help. Ruth was always ready to lend a hand. I can't thank Ruth enough for all she's done for Hartwood and Stafford County. Ruth's legacy will always be Remembered!!!

My Aunt Ruth was a very fun and interesting person to know, and a most accommodating hostess. I stayed with her and my Uncle Mike on multiple travels to the DC area, and also when they were in West Germany back in the mid-1980s. Ruth was always current with the events of the day, political and otherwise, and could hold engaging conversations on most all topics. I enjoyed hearing of her community involvement, both in formal roles and as a citizen activist, and admired that she put her energies where she held her convictions. She will be dearly missed.

To Ruth's family - may only good memories of Ruth and her gentle and dedicated life comfort you.  She was a great woman and will be missed.  Elizabeth Kelley


Dearest Ruth
I was one of your international friends. I came to the British Embassy in Washington in the mid 70s and met you then. We had a lot of fun socially with  a group called Johnny’s Gang. Two more postings  to North America during my career meant  we could continue our friendship, and enabled me to get close to your family. You were one of the kindest, most warm hearted and humane people I have ever met and these qualities have been nurtured in your dear daughter, Lori. I think it’s fitting that you passed  several weeks after Queen Elizabeth. I hope you  are amusing each other waiting in Heaven’s Pearly Gates line.
RIP dear Ruth. We’ll meet again.

Our fond memory is that Ruth was a smart, friendly and energetic lady who loved her family dearly . As very close friends with her daughter and son-in-law, Lori & Dick Babeu, we are praying that the Lord will shorten your families time of grief and bless you all with the wonderful cherished memories of Ruth’s acts of love for you.


Our thoughts and prayers are with Ruth and her family and friends.  Her commitment to the county was amazing.  
My favorite memory is about four years ago when she called me.  She was in the hospital in NoVa with Thanksgiving just days away and she worried that the family that she prepared a meal for would not have a holiday meal.  She was focused on others, not herself.  

Ruth showed us an example of a life well lived - an amazingly accomplished and caring woman. May fond and loving memories comfort the family.

What a remarkable woman. She always made me laugh. I will surely miss her. May God bless Ruth and her entire family.
