Nécrologie de Samantha Yvonne Alvarez
A beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin and friend, Samantha Alvarez, was called to heaven on January 4th, 2020. Born in Irvine, CA on March 17, 1995 to Sergio and Sandra Alvarez, she grew up in Woodbridge and Stafford VA and graduated from Brooke Point High School in 2014 and Northern Virginia Community College in 2017. She was a Senior at Clemson University majoring in Criminal Justice with a focus on sociology and was due to graduate in May 2020. Sami had a love for the arts, enjoyed drawing and listening to music. She had a passion to help and stand up for people who were treated unfairly. She was funny, outgoing and vivacious. Sami was a symbol of power, beauty and grace. She was fiercely loyal to her family and friends. We will always remember her infectious laughter, piercing brown eyes and genuine personality. Samantha’s presence in our lives will be sorely missed as she had a positive impact on all she encountered. Sami was the heart and soul of our family and to her circle of friends. When you think of Sami, celebrate the wonderful memories each of you have with her and remember that life is precious, fragile, and short and should be lived to its fullest… Just the way Sami did! She watches over her parents Sergio and Sandy, brothers Sergio Jr., Steven, Ryan and little Sis Mae, her grandparents Robert and Enedina Alvarez and George and Laura Vaughn, Godparents Scottie and Angie Glaspell and Vanessa Lopez. A celebration of her life will be held on January 13, 2020, 10:00 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 18825 Fuller Heights Rd, Triangle, VA 22172. Following the service, a reception will be held at the Church’s dining facility. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made on behalf of Samantha Alvarez to Newport News CASA, 230 25th Street, Newport News, VA 23607. www.nncasa.org Checks can be made payable to Newport News CASA.
