He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Phyllis Hunt; his sons, Carey Cropp (Cathy), Kevin Clower (Amy); his daughter, Crystal Brown (Robbie); and his 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Sammy was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Jessie Hunt.
Sammy enjoyed boating, fishing, listening to Elvis songs and watching John Wayne “The Duke” movies. He was a Green Bay Packers fan and enjoyed giving his kids and grandkids a hard time for cheering for the Cowboys.
Sammy served in the U.S. Army and then followed his service with an engineering career at Dahlgren. He later owned a boat shop and travel agency. He also worked as a bartender, realtor and retired as a construction worker.
A private graveside service will be held at Quantico at a later date.
