Tanner Javontae Jones

Tanner Javontae Jones entered this world on Monday, July 6, 1998 at Portsmouth Naval Hospital in Portsmouth VA. Tanner left this earthly realm on February 4, 2022, at the age of 23. He was a beloved son, grandson, brother, uncle, nephew, and friend.

Tanner moved with his family from the Virginia Beach area to Northern VA in January 1999. Settling in Dale City VA, Tanner completed his primary education in the Prince William County school district. In May of 2016, Tanner graduated from C.D. Hylton High School and later went on to attend college at the Historically Black University, Cheyney University of Pennsylvania.

At the age of 10 Tanner was diagnosed with childhood diabetes but despite his diagnosis, Tanner went on to play the game of football that he loved so much. Competing in youth leagues, middle and high school, and later in the collegiate arena. Though Tanner left this world too soon, he left his mark in the multiple lives that he has touched during his brief time with us.

Tanner was preceded in death by his beloved Great Grandmother Martha Cowan, Grandmother Iola Jackson, and Aunt Angela Pettaway.

Tanner is survived by his loving mother Zina (Geneva), father Thomas (Jennifer), Grandparents James Jackson, and Thomas and Gloria Jones, three sisters, Brittanni Jackson, Victoria Jones, and Tahlia King, an Aunt Danetta Strong, three Uncles Demetrius Jackson, Roderick and Raleifoot Jones, a Niece and Nephew Jordynn and Langston Jackson, and a host of cousins and friends that loved him dearly.
