At the age of 18, he began working out of Local 70, IBEW, as a lineman with Richardson and Wayland, moving onto high voltage underground cable installer, W. A. Chester, LLC, retiring a short two years ago as Superintendent.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Judy; two sons, Mark and Greg and his wife Maureen (Mo); grandsons, Garrett and Brandon; granddaughters Kirsten and Lacey; great granddaughter, Taeylor .
He was preceded in death by his eldest son, Tommy, Jr.; his sister, Rita Gail Short; and his parents Dorothy Jean Akers and Malvin D. Wilburn, aka, Big Slick.
