One of the best coaches I ever had the chance to play for, thank you for teaching me love of the game. I will always thank you for the patience and guidance you gave both my brother and I during baseball/softball/basketball.

My brother Will was born in Anchorage, Alaska on a military base while our daddy was serving in the Army. From the very beginning, snow was part of his story. He was always so much fun—especially when it came to making snowmen.
How fitting that as we gather to celebrate his life, Winter Storm Fern is sweeping through the Southeast. It feels like one last reminder of the joy, laughter, and memories we shared.
I love you, bro. I will cherish every moment, every laugh, and every snowman forever. I know you are safe in the arms of Jesus.

How do you encapsulate 40 years of being brothers, friends, and partners in crime. Everything you have meant to me in my life. 

It still doesn’t seem real. I had a question about the stock market last week. You were the first person I wanted to call. 

Everyday there is something that reminds me of you. You made me the man I am today. I am grateful for all the time we shared together in this life. 

I look forward to the time when we meet again. I love you always, Brother.

Absolutely heartbroken to hear the passing of a man who was like a second father to me. Even on the first day I met him he treated me like I was apart of the family. He taught me so much about life and how to enjoy it. I will always be thankful he was a part of my life. This isn’t goodbye forever. I’ll hold onto the memories, the laughter, and the love until we meet again. My thoughts and prayers are with Michelle, Will Jr, Dom, and Morgan. I love you all.

William will always be Willy to me and Terry. He was a very special person to us. He was like another son of ours. He hung around with my boys for years so we accepted him as one of ours. He was also a character. Always kidding around and playing jokes on us. He grew into a fine young man. Got married and raised a fine family. He would be there if you ever needed anything. He left us way to soon in life. He will truly be missed. We love you and are glad you have no more pain to deal with. Love the ones you have left behind. Rest in peace my dear son. The last time I saw you, I knew it would be the last. I tried to control my emotions because I wanted one final moment to spend time with my brother and help you in your time of need. That time was truly a gift from God, giving me a little more peace.

When I think of our relationship, I feel a little sad that we didn’t spend more time together in adulthood. Working, raising children, and all the activities that come with them take so much of our time. After the passing of our mom, we became closer than we had been in many years. You faced so many struggles with your treatments, and I was always ready (like a third baseman) to step in when needed, but it was never necessary. You had tremendous support from your amazing wife, Michele, and from your awesome kids all the way to your last days. I am so grateful you were surrounded by so much love.

When I reflect on our relationship, I will do my best not to dwell on regrets (like not spending more time together) and instead focus on the great moments we did share. Since childhood, we did so much together: riding bikes and jumping ramps, spending entire days in the forests of Kansas with our BB guns, playing basketball, playing baseball and softball, building a half pipe in our backyard at ages 12 and 16, playing tennis during Wimbledon, and so much more. I am truly grateful for all those memories.

We lost so many people we loved, and we never fully recovered because of the pace of those losses since 2014. I am grateful that my brother was surrounded by the love of his family in his last hours, even though I wasn’t there. My Aunt Janet is the closest person we have left who is like a second mother to us, and I am so thankful she was there to comfort him as well.

Your life was too short for me and for everyone who loved you, but God had other plans, and now you are with the family we both loved so dearly.
