Albertina Lara

Albertina Lara peacefully passed on Saturday August 7th at 5:40 PM at Stamford hospital as per her wishes. She was surrounded by family, her two sisters Zarela and Maria Lara, Nephew Alvaro Iparraguirre, niece Ximena Iparraguirre and great niece Victoria Iparraguirre. Lovingly known as “Tina”, Lara resided in Stamford, lived in Darien for many years and and grew up in New Canaan. She was a woman of many passions including but not limited to the study of ornithology, conservation, history, art, opera and classical music. She always carried with her a cheery outlook on life, and loved to share her sense of humor and stories with anyone who would listen. She always looked forward to her yearly pilgrimage to Peru, and throughout her life enjoyed exploring and travel. Her knowledge of sports, specially baseball and the Yankees was second to none, and she was an avid lover of cats, the color pink and Sunday wine. Tina will be greatly missed.

Services will be on Friday, August 13 from 8:30 - 9:45 AM, at Leo P Gallagher & Sons and a mass at 10:30 AM at St. Cecilia’s Church in Stamford. Her final resting place will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Bronx, NY.
