

ANTOINETTE TERESA SCHLUETER UHRICH of Stamford entered into eternal rest on December 15, 2013 at the age of 99. She was born in New York City on September 27th, 1914 of Joseph Schlueter and Teresa Schmidt Schlueter. She was the beloved wife of Marcellus George Uhrich who died in 2010. They had been married for 72 years.
A long time resident of Stamford, she was a loving and active housewife and the mother of five children. After her birth in the Bronx, she spent her childhood in Bergenfield, New Jersey and later in Rochester, New York. Subsequently, her family moved to Buffalo, New York where she met her future husband. They married in 1938. She attended public schools in Bergenfield, Rochester, and Buffalo and worked as a buyer’s secretary for Flint & Kent, a Buffalo department store, until her marriage.
After living in Buffalo for several years, they and a growing family lived in Cleveland and Detroit following the career of her husband in the baking industry. In 1956, the family moved to Stamford where she resided until her death. With her children, she was active in Camp Fire Girls and the Girl Scouts. She and her husband enjoyed camping.
In Stamford, Antoinette was an active member of Saint Cecilia Church and then Saint Gabriel Church from its founding. She was active in taking care of the flowers and linens for the church services. After the retirement of her husband, they volunteered for Meals on Wheels.
Most of all, she cherished her family. She is predeceased by her beloved husband of 72 years, Marcellus, who passed in 2010. She is survived by their five children: Marie (Theresa) Uhrich of Norwalk, Mark Uhrich and wife Monique of Maisons-Laffitte, France, Margaret Tatton and husband Geoffrey of Stamford, Mary Pobieglo and husband Joseph of Essex Junction, Vermont, and Ruth Ann Cloonan and husband John of Norwalk; four grandchildren: Laura Burbage and husband Christopher of Hampton, Virginia, John Uhrich and wife Mary of Acton, Massachusetts, Christopher Tatton and wife Amy of Chelmsford, Massachusetts, Melissa Tatton Lev and husband Guy of Monroe, Connecticut, and step-grandson Mathieu Auriol of Paris France; and three great-grandchildren: Derek Uhrich of Acton, Massachusetts and Henry Tatton and Scarlett Tatton of Chelmsford, Massachusetts. She is predeceased by her two sisters and her brother.
Calling hours will take place on Friday 20th December from 4pm to 8pm at the Leo P Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 2900 Summer Street, Stamford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Gabriel Church in Stamford on Saturday December 21st at 10am followed by burial at the Queen of Peace cemetery in Stamford.
