Carmen Elena Perimenis, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, a longtime resident of Stamford, CT, passed away to be with the Lord on July 25, 2024, at the age of 91. Carmen’s beautiful smile, sense of humor and wit, and most importantly the love for her family will be missed by all who loved her dearly both near and far.
Besides her family and friends, she loved traveling, opera, shopping for high-end bargains that no one else could find, listening to latin music, playing dominoes with her siblings, and helping her family in any way she could. She also cherished her time at her home in Lake Suzy, Florida with her husband, family and friends.
Carmen was born in New York City on December 31, 1932 and was the daughter of the late Petra Sarabia-Vidal and Lorenzo G. Vidal. In 1935, her parents along with their six children emigrated back to Venezuela, where she was raised around several aunts, uncles and cousins. At the age of 21, Carmen returned to New York City, where she attended secretarial school, and thereafter worked at Revlon corporation in the heart of Manhattan for several years. While living in New York she met her lifelong partner and husband Peter. After starting their family in New York, Carmen and Peter moved to Stamford, Connecticut in 1965, where they further built their life together.
Carmen dedicated her life to raising her children and supporting her husband in his dental practice for more than 40 years. She was a meticulous bookkeeper, homemaker and ran a tight ship! She had a love for interior design, decorating, and creating beautiful homes. Her creativity also included a sense of fashion and flair that remained with her throughout her entire life. She was a gifted cook, preparing multicultural dishes on every occasion and also reveled in generously helping those in need. There were many accomplishments for her to be proud of but what she cherished most was her love and affection for her entire family and how proud she was of her children and grandchildren.
Carmen was predeceased by her husband and life partner of almost 70 years, Dr. Peter Perimenis, and is survived by their children Dr. Rory Perimenis and his wife Linda of Monroe, CT; Dr. Peter Perimenis and his wife Alexandra of Stamford, CT; Georgette Perimenis, Esq. and her husband Brian Irizarry of Stamford, CT, and Katherine Perimenis, Esq. and her partner Kenneth Schod of Stamford, CT. She is also survived by her grandchildren Dr. R.J. Perimenis, Dr. Taylor Kurtz, Dr. Tyler Perimenis, Dr. Peter Perimenis, Dr. Morgan Kurtz, Zoe Perimenis and Kat Lopez; and her great grandchildren Luke and Tino; all of whom she loved with all of her heart.
She was dearly loved by all and will forever be missed. In honoring Carmen’s memory, let us remember her beauty, sense of humor, legacy and generosity in all she did. The family would like to thank each and every caregiver who provided and attended to her with much care, love and support.
