I never knew you, so forgive me that this is hard to say. All I know is that you were a very smart young man with all of this potential and determination to go after your goals. You were and are very close to someone I love with all of my being. He misses you everyday and wishes you were still here. I'm more than glad you were in his life to have met someone so amazing and kind and funny. You made his days brighter and full of laughter, especially at school. The stories he's told me about you guys made me almost cry from laughing too hard and then I thought that's most likely how you both were in those very moments. I'm thankful for him to have met you and truly wish i had gotten the chance to meet you. I hope you're doing okay and that you're watching over your family with a full heart. Every one misses you and thinks about you everyday.

I know this might be a little late but I heard what happened when it happen. Decided one to check his fb to see what's up and I saw this. I was one if the kids with Daivd in Washington D.C. And (this may be a little rude) but if I may ask. How did he pass? I mean he was a nice kid. I don't understand how he passed.

David, this is the first message i am writing here, but its only because i never knew what exactly to say, but what i know is that you were an amazing kid, you where funny, sweet and caring kid, i was the one who gave u you JROTC uniform your first day training the drills, and thats when i knew your dream was to go into the army, i would check up on your class all the time too see if you and everyone else were doing good and if you and anyone else needed any help on anything. you were a very smart kid, you knew soo much already about JROTC and i know srgt.major was very proud of you, we all were! now that you are up ther with god i hope u are looking down on all of us and seeing how much we still love and care about you. Knowing you are gone, it still unsettles my heart.. I wish i could have had more memories with you, I never got to see you play drums, never got the chance to learn from you.. You may not know it, but you helped push me to pursue my dreams in playing drums, in getting better and so on so forth. I still remember all the times you came over after school just to play rock band, and you were the only person that i didn't care if you played the drum, because it was fascinating watching you do some of the insane things on that game. Wherever my life leads, especially musically, I have you to thanks. I'll always hold on to the memories I have, and no matter what, I won't forget you, every time I see a pair of drums, every time I see a Mets fan, every time I see someone who serves for our country, I'll always be reminded of you. Never had a direct conversation with David but when we did it always went well. I was glad to see you at the Westhill College Fair you looked good in your uniform and you made a mark in my book. Its sad to see you leave but you carry on in our hearts and looking after us from above. Dont want to sound preachy but I just wanted to let you know you will be missed. Im proud to say I was a friend of David Buitrago. His accomplishments and way of living will motivate me for the rest of my life.

David, I dont think we ever really spoke in DC but it doesnt matter because I know you were a great guy and you will be remembered by your friends and family. May you rest in peace and watch over the rest of us.

I've rewritten different stuff and I just can't believe it. David you were such a nice guy and we planned hanging out high school...we connected so great and I barley met you for 6days in Washington DC! I would've never been able to imagine living life without you . I wish I could've been there for you more often in hopes of a different outcome. You'd always walk in the room and say "good day sir" out of all the let one's gotta say you were the coolest. Gonna miss you a lot pd 4 won't be the same with out you. JROTC won't be the same with out you. 

I remember this day (talking about the photo) Was the one of the last day we were teaching CPR to you let ones and I was just taking random photos for the JROTC video. I remember looking at this picture after I took it thinking how funny you looked and hoop happy you were. This is how I will remember you.

I still remember meeting you in 9th grade, you were in my English class, you would always joke around, making me laugh :] Who could forget the time of us 2 yelling in the street's  the word brian would get annoyed by. And that time when we all were hanging out. You, brian, alex, josh and I. You all walked me home at 2am ;] and that flower you cut down for me, i will never forget it, and the other one all of us trying to put it on my hair but it kept falling lol. Me, you, Brian, and Nestor used to chill a lot in middle school and those were some of the best times in my life. I remember the times we had at Stamford High and laughing and enjoying ourselves. Then afterwords I would run into you everywhere. At work, at Westhill,in the mall and even in Grand Central Station During New Years. Its crazy to think that I was talking to you only a month ago and now you have gone to a place far better than the world we live in.

Hey David. Before I enlisted in the marines, you would always come and work out with us. You always made me laugh and smile and whenever I saw you in school you would do the same thing. Hey David man its Jordon I just want to reflect on when i first came to stamford high you would always sit in Ms.Stashinko class and all the times you would come to school and talk about video games man. I also want to say that I truly miss you man and I will always miss you bro. You were a true friend to everybody. I dont think no-one ever had anything bad to say about you.
