

Dorothy Eugenie Burke, 87 of Frederick, MD died Wednesday morning, December 16, 2015. She was born to the late Geraldine Forrester and Marcus Forrester, June 27th 1928, Port Antonio, Portland, Jamaica W.I.
“Miss Jim”, “Dor”, “Mummy”, and “Ma”, were just a few of the names she was addressed by. She was a caretaker and giver to her family and friends and anyone in need.
A quiet soul, Dorothy focused her life on her family and her home. She was a true homemaker in every sense of the word. She established family traditions that will be upheld for generations to come.
Dorothy migrated to Stamford, CT in 1967 and started working at Smith House Convalescence home where she retired.
Dorothy was married to her beloved husband Carlton, who predeceased her in 2014. They were married for over 60 years and had four children. Orris, her son, predeceased her in 2008.
Mummy was meek and quiet, but don’t get it twisted, she did not suffer fools gladly.
Dorothy is survived by her three children: Michele McKnight, Carla Milan and Jeremy Burke; eight grandchildren: Jessica Campbell, Ashley, Dominique, Falon and Aiden Burke, Courtney and Chelsea McKnight and Rhodashia Lee; three great –grandchildren: Malia, Berlyn and Amaris Amooquandoh.
She is survived by sisters: Louise Forrester, Cynthia Tracey, Lenna Wright, Joy McLennon and Cecile Victory. She was pre-deceased by three brothers: Lloyd George Williams, Raphael Alexander and Maurice Forrester.
Dorothy will be mourned by many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Mummy always said that she was the prettiest of all the Forrester girls and had beautiful piano fingers. Yes girl you rocked….
In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to your local hospice in honor of Dorothy.
