
Errol B. Corniffe (Pops) died peacefully on March 2, 2015 at the age of 92. He was born in St. Ann’s parish Jamaica WI. He was one of three children born to the deceased Gertrude and Cyril Corniffe. His sister Millicent Brown is also deceased.
He is survived by his son Romeo Corniffe from Ontario Canada, a sister Joyce Goulbourne from Lauderdale Florida, several nieces and nephews and his adopted family, the children of Edith and Stanley Ray (Helen, Brenda and Jackie) from Norwalk Connecticut. he also survived by Errol has four grandchildren Natalie, Dwayne ,Michelle, Steven and one great-grandchild Monro.
Errol was an officer of the Jamaican police force stationed in Kingston. He moved to the United States In 1968. He worked and retired from Arnold's Bakery in Greenwich. After retiring he continued to work as an auxiliary police officer for the city of Stamford, a security guard at Caldor’s department store and the Union Baptist Church. He was a faithful member of U B C for many years. He looked forward to Sunday's so he could keep a watchful eye on the day's proceeding at church.
Errol was always full of jokes and loved interacting with children. He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees. It goes without saying his generosity was known by all. He lived by the philosophy “work until you can’t physically do it anymore. “
Errol died at the Wilton Meadows rehabilitation center. Were he was made comfortable in his last days. His funeral will be held on March 12, 2015. There will be a viewing from 5-6pm followed by his Going Home service at the Union Baptist Church, 805 Newfield Ave, Stamford. The interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, please consider giving a donation in his memory to the Union Baptist youth ministry. The Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
