

Frances S. Ginise (Fran), talented artist and floral arranger, passed away at the age of 98, on September 16, 2011. Born April 15, 1913 in Stamford, Ct.. She was the daughter of the late Francesco and Fara Maltese Sclafani, married May 28, 1935 to James L. Ginise of Riverside, Ct. Fran attended Stamford schools. Fran lived previously in North Mianus where in the 1950’s and early 1960’s she supervised the North Mianus School summer playground. Fran had a natural artistic talent and loved water and oil painting, sketching and flower arranging. She worked with her best friends the late Rose Calabrese and Gerry Billone of Riverside. Together they decorated many weddings (including her son Michael’s wedding) and parties in the Greenwich area. Fran was a supporter of the Republican Party. She assisted her late husband James L. Ginise, who served on the Republican Town Committee, and when District 12 was formed he was the District leader. Fran worked in the Greenwich YWCA office until her retirement and then relocated to Stamford. Fran was also an avid reader, loved politics and long afternoon naps. She is survived by her son Michael Ginise and his wife Alice of Old Greenwich, Ct., 2 sisters, Juliet Sclafani of Milford, Ct. and Rita Young of Barefoot Bay, Florida, 5 grandchildren, Christina Boris of New York City, Audrianna Ginise of Stamford, Ct., Joan G. Coprio of Stamford, Joyce Ginise/Coles of Norwich, Ct., and Jacqueline Piskura of New Milford, Ct. 3 great grandchildren, Claudia E. Coprio of Stamford, Ct., Zachary Piskura and Teegan Piskura of New Milford, Ct. In addition to her parents, Fran was predeceased by her husband James L. Ginise, Sr., her son, James L. Ginise, Jr., and great granddaughter Courtney Coles. A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, September, 23 2011 at 10:30 am at St. Marys Church, 566 Elm St, Stamford,CT. Interment will be private. We would like to thank the staff at St. Camillus Health Care Center, her doctor, Dr. Wong and Solamor Hospice for their care and kindness. Contributions in Frances’ memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
