

Mary M. Whittington-Brown from Dillon South Carolina. Girley died peacefully at the Veterans Hospital in West Haven,
Connecticut, on Tuesday August 7, 2012. Girley was well-known in the community as “Woody”. He was a member of Stamford Baptist Church, a retired Marine with decorations and medals for: National Defense Service, 3-Star Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Combat Infantry Badge. Girley retired from Amtrak with over 45 years of service as a Conductor on Conrail, New Haven, and Metro North railways. Girley was an avid classic car collector, buyer, and restorer. Girley’s loving wife of 47 years was Mildred M. Hall-Whittington of Stamford, who preceded him in death in 2010. With warm affection and a loving spirit Girley and Mildred leaves 2 sons - G. Furess (wife Angeline) Whittington of Norwalk, Connecticut, and
Eric B. D. Whittington of Fort Collins, Colorado; a brother James Brown, Jr. of Bridgeport, Connecticut; an Aunt Ruth Mulligan
of Yasmine, South Carolina; a brother Kenny Brown of Trenton, New Jersey; as well as grandchildren, uncles and cousins
throughout Connecticut and South Carolina. Please join the immediate family and friends for a memorial service in honor
of Girley “Woody” Whittington on Saturday, August 25, 2012, 2:00pm to 4:00pm, Stamford Baptist Church, 602 High Ridge Road, Stamford, Connecticut.
