

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Harvey Walzer, age 91, of Stamford, Connecticut. He was the beloved husband of Phyllis Walzer. Harvey was the son of Rudolf and Sophie Walzer. He is predeceased by his brother, Freddie Walzer, and his sister, Frances Goldberg.
Harvey graduated from the City College of New York (CCNY) in 1955 with a B.S. in Chemistry. While enrolled in the ROTC program, he served two years in the U.S. Army as an Infantry 2nd Lieutenant after graduating from college. During his service, he was stationed in Korea, where he served as a Company Commander for F Company in the 2nd Battalion of the 19th Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division. Upon returning to the United States and receiving an honorable discharge, he was hired as a Division Research Chemist at Maxwell House Coffee in Hoboken, NJ.
A few years later, the Division Research group relocated to the new General Foods Headquarters in White Plains, NY. Shortly after the move, he assumed the position of Plant Quality Control Manager at the Maxwell House Coffee plant in Houston, Texas. He worked there for some time before returning to White Plains as the Quality Manager for the Maxwell House Division.
After several years, he was promoted to General Foods Corporate Quality Manager and then became the Kraft General Foods International Director of Quality Assurance. In his final role at Kraft, he served as the International Quality Assurance Director, traveling extensively throughout Europe, Latin America, Australia, Asia, and the Pacific Rim countries until his retirement in 1996.
Phyllis and Harvey spent nearly 50 years living in Stamford. Their loving family includes their daughter, Deborah Hazen, and her husband, Jeffrey, who reside in Trumbull, Connecticut. They have two children, Allison and Benjamin Hazen. Their son, Richard Walzer, lives in Sharon, Massachusetts, with his wife, Ami Smith. Richard has two sons, Nathan and Colby Walzer. Nathan is married to Makenzie, and Ami has three daughters: Maya, Sophie, and Phoebe Biran.
The funeral will be held Tuesday, December 31st, at 11:00 a.m. at Temple Beth El. Shiva to follow.
