

Helen S. Hunt died peacefully with her daughter by her side on May 9, 2012 in Woodbridge, CT. She was born in Stamford on June 23, 1914 to Peter and Mary Scurek Smolen. Helen was married to the late Captain Robert E. Hunt of the Stamford Police Department. She was a person of strong faith. Helen possessed a keen sense of humor and was always quick to flash a warm smile and a little chuckle. Her family was the focus of her life, and she will be sadly missed. She is survived by her daughter Kathi Hunt Pawlak and son-in-law Walter of Ansonia, son-in-law Stephen Case of Prospect, sisters Lucy Verrastro of Stamford and Irene Byrne of New Canaan, her loving grandchildren Gregory Barnak of Danbury, Kristin Norman (Victor) of Wolcott, Lauren Barnak (Wendy Drennan) of Lunenburg, MA, James Case of Wolcott, Jerel Case of Middlebury, Tracey Pawlak of Ansonia, and Leslie Pawlak (Liam Devine) of New Orleans, LA, and her great grandchildren Hunter Barnak and Dustin Barnak of Bethel. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Besides her spouse and parents, Helen was predeceased by her daughters Beverly Bardwell and Roberta Case, and her sister Ann Bogacki. Family and friends may call the Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home on Saturday May 12, 2012 from 8:30am-9:30pm. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday May, 12 2012 at 10 am at St. Maurice Church 358 Glenbrook Rd, Stamford CT 06906.
