

William John Stibravy, distinguished Senior United States Foreign Service Officer, died after a short illness, at Norwalk Hospital, Norwalk, Connecticut, on Saturday, January 5, 12:30 PM, at the age of 96. Mr. Stibravy was born in Newark, New Jersey on October 22, 1916. He was an honors graduate of Columbia University, with a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree, and Ph. D studies in Economics. He was named a Fellow of Columbia University as an undergraduate. His Foreign Service career saw him serving at the Department of State, Washington, D.C., Tokyo, Trieste, Paris, Geneva, Vienna and at the United States Mission to the United Nations in New York. After forty years in the Department of State, he had a second career of twenty-seven years as the representative to the United Nations in New York for the International Chamber of Commerce, finally retiring at the age of ninety-two. He leaves behind his wife, Roma Yellon Stibravy, President, NGO Sustainability, and sons Robert, Vancouver, Canada, and Richard, Berkeley, California.
