
He was a renowned landscape architect who had practiced for over 50 years. His clients were primarily prestigious homeowners in lower Fairfield and Westchester counties. Other clientele were located in Long Island, New Jersey, North Carolina, Florida, Ohio, Illinois, Colorado, and California. Jack also was the designer of the Westchester Holocaust Memorial, which awarded him the Westchester County Certificate and Medal of Service. He also was the recipient of numerous ‘Best of Show’ awards for gardens designed for the International Floral Shows in New York City. He was a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects as well as the American Institute of Landscape Architects.
In his youth, Jack served in the United States Marine Corps and was a combatant in the Korean War. He survived the Chosin Reservoir campaign and received the Purple Heart for injuries received in the conflict. He was a member of various marine veteran organizations including the Marine Corps League and a life member of the First Marine Division.
Jack leaves behind his very loving wife Joan, a successful Realtor, daughter Debbie, a CFO with a lab testing company, son Mark, President of several Indonesian companies and wife Lynne, son Glenn, an architect in Colorado and wife Agnes, a son Kevin, COO of a national investors company and his wife Gena. There are eight grandchildren: Kellie, Craig, Nika, Kyra, John, Alison, Kyle and Camille.
A memorial service will be held at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home on Summer Street on Thursday 08/19/2021 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Private interment will be in Quantico Cemetery in Virginia.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jack's memory to St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
