

James “Old Man” Riordan age 81, longtime resident of Stamford died suddenly and peacefully at High Ridge Park on Monday March 21, 2011. Jim grew up in Valhalla , NY son of the late Maurice and Louise ( Murray ) Riordan, husband of 52 years to Helene (Paulus) Riordan. Jim worked for High Ridge Park Corporate Center for the past 39 years as a Building Engineer. In 2007, he was awarded Engineer of the year by Southern Connecticut Building Owners and Managers. Since 1976, Jim was a volunteer with the Turn of River Volunteer Fire Department, where he served in many positions including Chairman of the Board. He was also a veteran of the Korean conflict. Mr. Riordan is survived by a daughter Joann D’Andrea and her husband Mark D’Andrea and his granddog Dolan of Norwalk and a son Kenneth Riordan and his wife Tina Riordan and 3 loving grandchildren Christopher Riordan, Kelly Riordan and Kate Riordan all of Norwalk. He is predeceased by his Sister Mary Catherine Monaldo of West Yarmouth , MA .
Jim enjoyed life and loved serving his community. He was a wonderful husband, father and Pop Pop and will be missed by many especially his beloved border collie Kep.
The family will receive friends between 3 and 9 p.m. on Thursday, March 24, at the Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 2900 Summer Street, Stamford . A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 25 at 10 a.m. at the funeral Home. A procession with a reception immediately following will be held at 1 High Ridge Park.
