

John (Jack) Carty passed away peacefully on January 27, 2012. Jack was born on June 3, 1936 in Nogra, Kinvarra, County Galway, Ireland to the late Michael and Delia Carty. A long-time resident of Stamford, Jack was a retired self-employed landscaper. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Keenan Carty, of Stamford; his daughter and son-in-law, Maggie and Jeff Wilson, and beloved grandson, Jack Lawrence Wilson, of Portland, Oregon. Jack is also survived by his sisters Bridie Donaldson, Cathleen Carty, Mary Howe and Nonie Fitzhenry of England; his sisters Julia Carty, Teresa Carty and Liz Connors of Ireland; and a brother, Joseph Carty, of New York City; and several nieces and nephews. Jack was pre-deceased by several siblings including Patrick Carty, Angela McKenna and Sheila Phillips of Ireland; and Michael Carty of Kearney, New Jersey. Jack was a member of the Phillip Sheridan Division of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and the Connecticut State Hurling Club.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Monday, January 30, 2012 between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at the Leo P. Gallagher Funeral Home located at 2900 Summer Street, Stamford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Cecilia's Church located at 1184 Newfield Avenue, Stamford, with burial to follow at St. John's Cemetery in Darien.
