Joseph was born on June 22, 1949, to Paul and Ossi Santora of Cos Cob, CT. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Patricia Ann Santora (Faughnan); his son, Joseph Santora, Jr. (Dianna), his two daughters, Allyson Mitchell (Jay) and Michelle Santora; his five grandchildren; Ryan Santora, Lauren Santora, Joseph Mitchell, Jason Mitchell, Jr. and Joey Manginelli. Joseph is also survived by his siblings, Donna Anderson, Debbie Pennella, Paul Santora, Jr. and David Santora, as well as many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews who lovingly called him "Big Joe".
Joe was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. Joe was also an avid outdoorsman. You could often find him at either The Sportsman's Den, the boat yard, or having breakfast at Joey's Bs. He cherished family traditions, especially his garden and making his famous sausage. He loved traveling to upstate NY where he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He enjoyed countless hours and memories at Lia's Mountain View restaurant. Anyone who knew "Big Joe" knew that he was the most loving husband, father, "Poppi" and friend.
The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association or American Cancer Society. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024 from 4 - 8pm at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 31 Arch Street, Greenwich, CT.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
