Mamie Ti Roi was born on August 26, 1932, in Camperin, Commune Des Cayes, Haiti, to the late Gerveus Piard and Rosaire Remy, born the second of 10 brothers and sisters. At a young age, she relocated to Port-au-Prince, where she met her prince charming, Wanes Metellus (Papi Ti Roi), whom she later married and birthed two children while maintaining the home as a housewife in Haiti.
In 1983, Mamie and Papi Ti Roi emigrated to Stamford, Connecticut, where she worked as a housekeeper until retirement. In her retirement years, Mamie Ti Roi became very involved in the community. She was a committed Christian with unwavering faith and strong devotion. She traveled to different pilgrimages and various religious shrines and became a member of the Legion of Mary, and sang in the choir Christ Roi.
Mamie Ti Roi was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and endearing friend to all who had the pleasure of her presence. She was full of love, generosity and compassion for all her relatives and friends. Despite her limited resources, she managed to support the scores of family members in Haiti. Mamie Ti Roi leaves to mourn, her daughter Whensie and son in law Eliphete Desther, son Patrick and daughter in law Mirlande Metellus, Stepchildren Yves and Jacqueline Metellus, Alex and Esther Metellus, Jeanne Mireille and Martial Napol, Jean Claude and Chantal Metellus, Eddy and Cornelli Metellus, Bengy and Mirtha Voltaire, Chrisnor and Darlin Voltair, Guito, Fleurette, Wirline and Berlin.
