
Marion Dal Molin (nee Murphy) passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at her home in New Canaan CT on Saturday, September 22, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 86 years old. Marion was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, and she will be sorely missed.
Marion was born and raised in Somerville and Cambridge MA. She and her beloved husband Frank moved to Connecticut in 1963 where they raised their six children until Frank’s untimely death in 1973.
Marion was a woman of strong faith and was an active member of her parish church throughout her life.
After raising her six children, Marion worked at Pitney Bowes Credit Corporation as an administrative assistant for over 15 years. Once retired, among her greatest joys in life was spending time with her family and friends, and especially her 10 grandchildren. Family vacations in Wellfleet and Nantucket MA were among her happiest memories. Marion was an avid reader, and enjoyed taking classes in history, politics, current events, and literature at Norwalk Community College’s Lifetime Learner’s Institute.
Marion is survived by her daughters Rosanne Somerville and her husband Huxley, Donna McNamara and her husband Tom, her daughter Mary Jean Dal Molin, her son Richard Dal Molin and his wife Maria, her son David Dal Molin, and her daughter Claire Salvatore and her husband Randy. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Molly, Tommy and Danny McNamara, Charlotte Somerville, Brandon, Kyle, Carolina and Celia Salvatore, and Jack and Nick Dal Molin. Marion will also be missed by many close friends, including her best friend Geraldine DePue.
Marion was predeceased by her parents, John F. Murphy and Marion C. Murphy and her brother John F. Murphy, Jr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 27th, at Saint Matthew Church in Norwalk CT. Arrangements are under the direction of Leo P. Gallagher Funeral Home in Stamford CT. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Bennet Cancer Center in Stamford CT or to Saint Matthew Church in Norwalk.
