
Mary Elizabeth (Victoria) Leopold passed away Saturday evening, December 13, 2014, after a long battle with heart failure and cancer that she bravely fought until should could fight no longer. She was 82 years old. She is predeceased by her mother and father, Mary and John, and her sisters Katherine, Lynn, Betty and her brother, John. She was married to William Leopold, Sr., who pre-deceased her in 2002. Mary was born in Brooklyn, New York, and then moved to Mount Vernon, New York with her family. Later she worked for AT&T in White Plains, New York, where she resided with her husband, a White Plains Police officer for over 20 years. She has resided in Stamford, Connecticut since 1993. Mary (who preferred to be called Vickie) is survived by her daughter, Valerie Scott and her husband Neil Scott, her son, William Leopold, Jr. and his wife Kristen, her son Raymond and his wife Heather residing in Texas. She also had the blessing of 9 beautiful grandchildren, Neil, Shannon, Liam, Courtney, Austin, Allison, Deavon, MacKenzie, and Kiersten. Additionally she has many loving cousins, nieces and nephews and she is a great, great aunt. Aside from her career, she was a wonderful mother and grandmother for many years. She also volunteered as a coordinator arranging rides for seniors with a local organization and was very active in helping others in her building complex.
Mary’s wake will be held at Leo P. Gallagher & Sons Funeral Home, 2900 Summer Street, Stamford, Connecticut, on Wednesday, December 17, 2014, from 5 – 8 p.m. Her life will be celebrated at a catholic mass at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 18, at St. Leo’s Parish, 24 Roxbury Road, Stamford. Burial will be at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in New Rochelle, New York immediately following the mass.
The Leopold and Scott families extend our heartfelt thanks and gratefulness to the Constellation Hospice Nurses and hospice team and volunteers for their wonderful and compassionate care in Mom’s final days and helping her peacefully pass to Heaven. We also are thankful for the wonderful, helpful people at the Southwestern Connecticut Agency on Aging and Independent Living for helping our mom live independently as she wanted to do.
We will remember her always for her love and all that she did for us. She will be forever in our hearts.
