Mary McElroy

Mary Troy McElroy, 89, passed away on September 22, 2014. Mary was a devote wife, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas R McElroy. Tom & Mary shared 61 beautiful years of marriage. Mary is survived by her 4 children; T Richard, Paul, Daniel, Betsy; & their spouses; Melanie, Linda, Susan, and Fred, respectively. Mary had several grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her parents: John & Bessie Troy; sister Doris Gallagher & brother Walter Troy.

Mary was born in Stamford in 1924. She attended St John’s Elementary School and graduated from Stamford High School. Mary and Tom raised their family in Stamford. They enjoyed their retirement on Cape Cod and Florida. Mary was known for her kind nature, love for family, & strong faith. She enjoyed her garden, golf (2 holes in one) reading, dancing & playing cards. Mary always had a positive attitude!! Friends and family will miss Mary and her words of encouragement, support and love.

Family and friends will celebrate Mary’s life at Leo P Gallagher & Sons Funeral Home, 2900 Summer St, Stamford, CT, on Friday September 26th, 2014, at 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm, and Saturday September 27th from 7:30 am to 8:30 am. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at The Basilica of St John, 279 Atlantic Street, Stamford, CT on Saturday September 27th, 2014, at 9:00 am. Burial will be at St John Catholic Cemetery, Darien, CT. In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, P.O.
