Pasquale W. Santagata

Pasquale W. Santagata, MD, age 89 of Stamford, peacefully entered into his eternal rest on Thursday, January 25, 2018, in his home surrounded by his loving family. He is the devoted husband of 61 years to MaryJane Gerrity Santagata. Dr. Santagata was born in New Haven on April 24, 1928, son of the late Antonio and Maria (Marenna) Santagata. He received his undergraduate degree from Fordham University and graduated, with honors, from Georgetown University School of Medicine.

Dr. Santagata started his practice in Stamford in 1962, he retired in 1994 after serving as Chief of Anesthesia at both Stamford and St. Joseph’s Hospitals. He was a member of the Connecticut Medical Society and a former member of the Board of Directors of VNA.

He is the beloved father of Mark Santagata and his wife Susan, Peter Santagata, MaryJane Lacerenza and her husband Donald, and Michael Santagata and his wife Elyse. He is the loving brother of Grace Barbiero, and the proud grandfather of Christopher Lacerenza, Kelly Santagata, Michael Lacerenza, Matthew Santagata, Lucas Santagata, and Alex Santagata. He also leaves several nieces and nephews.

Friends may greet his family on Sunday, January 28, from 2 to 5 pm at Leo P. Gallagher & Sons Funeral Home, 2900 Summer Street, Stamford. On Monday, January 29, his funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 9:15 am for a Mass of Christian Burial at The Basilica of St. John’s, 279 Atlantic St, Stamford at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery, 124 Rock Rimmon Rd, Stamford.
