
Thomas Dennis Patrick John Francis Colleran, born to Theresa and Thomas Colleran in Hoyland, England, Nov 11th, 1946 died Saturday at the age of 64. He was the eldest of 9 children. He emigrated to the U.S. with his parents and sister in 1950, and they settled in the Woodside neighborhood of Queens, New York. He was educated at St. Sebastian's School in Woodside, and at St. Francis Prep in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, New York. After high school, he quickly became a member of the Sheet Metal Worker's International Association Local Union No. 28. He retired as a master sketcher and worked on many notable Manhattan stores, buildings, landmarks, including the World Trade Center and in Rockefeller Center. Many jobs insisted on having Tom involved as a condition of using the companies he worked for. He was also a dedicated and talented skier and ski instructor at Mt. Snow in Vermont. After nearly 30 years as a member of the teaching community there, the number of skiers he instructed, influenced, and inspired is beyond counting. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Eileen; sons Brian and Andrew; brothers, John (Tina), Jim (Susan), and Kevin (Mariann), sisters, Mairead (Kevin)Smyth, Mary Catherine (Paul)McCann, Theresa (Ginger)Colleran, Eileen (Ed)Sprague, and Noreen (Kevin)O'Sullivan; Dour family brothers and sisters; and 31 nieces and nephews.
