
WILLIAM JASSEY, age 81, of Wilton, Connecticut, passed away on Tuesday, May 17 at Norwalk Hospital. He was born on March 15, 1930 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Rachel and Louis Jassey. Bill was the former supervisor of the foreign language and social studies programs for the Norwalk Public Schools for 34 years and the founder/director of the Center for Japanese Studies for Fairfield County Public Schools. Most recently, he was the director of the International Degree Program in the Graduate School of Education of the University of Bridgeport, Conn. He is survived by his beloved wife Ikuko Jassey; daughter Lisa Jassey Salzman and son-in-law Kenneth Salzman of New York, New York; and daughter Hillary Jassey and her fiancee Adam Eidelberg of New York, New York. Also surviving him are three beloved grandchildren Fraya, Noah and Sarah Salzman. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2011 at Gallagher's Funeral Home, 2900 Summer Street, Stamford, Connecticut at 11:00 AM. Shiva will be observed following the funeral and on Friday, May 20 from 2 PM to 7 PM.
