Alice Faye (Hinson) Martin, 73, of Mount Holly passed away at The Caromont Regional Medical Center on Friday February 22, 2019. Alice was a homemaker. She loved her family and enjoyed her children and grandchildren. Alice loved to sew, cook and arrange flowers. She also enjoyed playing both pool, poker and dancing. Alice was an active member of the TLC daycare community in Gastonia. She began at TLC in 2013 and she considered TLC her job. She loved the people and staff at TLC. She participated in all the activities and regularly dressed up when TLC had special events. Alice will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved her.
Alice was born in Charlotte, North Carolina to the late Elizabeth “Tiny” (Hill) Hinson-Parris and Stanford “Nub” L. Hinson.
Left to cherish their memories and to carry on Alice’s legacy are her children – Melinda Shamblin and husband Richard of Mount Holly, Melody Braswell and husband Pete of Concord and David Wayne Gurley and wife Lisa also of Concord. Missing their grandmother are: Crystal Williams, Miranda Williams, Jessica Heslop and husband Glenn, Jonathan Shamblin, Candice Gurley and Summer Gurley. Alice leaves behind seven great-grandchildren. They are: Landon Thompson, McKenzie Thompson, Emma Heslop, Lilly Lackey, Abby Heslop, Natalie Williams and Harper Shamblin.
A service celebrating Alice’s life will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at Carothers Funeral Home, 412 South Main Street, Stanley. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. before the service. Pastor David Gales will offer words of encouragement and hope to those that gather to remember Alice.
