Brenda was a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished grandmother. She took great pride in her career as a sales associate with Belk, where she worked throughout the 1980s, 1990s, and early 2000s. Brenda truly enjoyed her work and the relationships she built with coworkers and customers over the years.
She found her greatest joy in spending time at the beach with her friends, riding around the campground on their golf cart, and making memories filled with laughter and companionship. A lifelong Elvis fan, she especially loved attending performances by Elvis impersonators and sharing that joy with those around her. She also cherished watching her grandchildren play sports and rarely missed a chance to cheer them on.
She is survived by her loving children,
Darrin Smith, 59 (Darlene) and Farrah Massey, 49 (Shane).
Grandchildren;
Chris (Shasta), Coty (Jenn), Chad (Cristal), Zach, Isaac (Anna), Maddie, Adam, Seth, and Hannah, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
Great-grandchildren;
Aubrey, Raelyn and Easton, James, Hannah, Katie, Ellie, and Cris, who brought her immense pride and joy.
She is also survived by her sister, Shirley Tilson.
Brenda was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Smith, with whom she shared many years of love and devotion.
Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for her family will be deeply missed but forever remembered. The memories made at the beach, around the campground, and with family will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
A visitation will be held at Carothers Funeral Home, located at 412 South Main Street, Stanley, North Carolina, 28164, on December 30, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
The funeral service will follow at the same location on December 30, 2025, beginning at 2:00 pm.
A committal service will take place at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery, located at 1508 Charles Raper Jonas Highway, Mt. Holly, North Carolina, 28120, on December 30, 2025.
