Born Sept. 17, 1942 in Robinson, Illinois, he mounted a fierce 12-year battle against cancer, valiantly exceeding doctors’ projections time and time again.
Don worked 38 years for General Electric, in Bloomington, Illinois and Charlotte, before retiring in 2002. In retirement he served on the Indian Trail, N.C, town planning commission.
He is remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, love of family and reliably strong work ethic. An avid reader and student of history, Don also enjoyed watching his beloved St. Louis Cardinals.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years Diane Wiseman; sons Scott Wiseman and his wife Michelle of Chatham, Illinois, Steve Wiseman and his wife Kelly of Cary, N.C., Matt Wiseman his wife Christy, of Yadkinville, N.C., and daughter Patti Montgomery and her husband, Chris, of Mount Holly, N.C; Six grandchildren; brother Roger and wife Lin of Roanoke, Illinois, sister Linda Wasem of Springfield, Illinois, brother John of Springfield, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Clifford and Mildred Wiseman, and brothers Bob Wiseman and Loren Wiseman.
A Life Well Celebrated Memorial Ceremony will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday ~ May 25, 2019 in the Chapel of Carothers Funeral Home, 412 South Main Street, Stanley, North Carolina 28164.
The family will receive guests from 10:00 AM ~ 11:00 AM prior to the ceremony.
