

He was born in Shady Point, Okla., son of the late Jim and Ruth Jones.
Mr. Jones was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, graduate of Oklahoma State Unitersity with a degree in Engineering, he was employed as an Engineer with Western Electric at Bell Laboratory in New Jersey and transferred to Greensboro. After leaving Western Electric, he was owner of Wylie West Marina at Lake Wylie and then was owner of Westlake Realty of Belmont and he then acquired the franchise for Century 21 and he then retired to Belmont.
Mr. Jones is survived by two sons, Jem Jones and wife Tanya of Alexis, Randy Jones of Charlotte; son-in-law, William “Bill” Grier of Charlotte; three grandchildren, Timothy Jones of Charlotte, Katherine Jones of Seattle, Washington, Zachary Grier of Tel Aviv, Israel; two brothers, Ray Jones of Washington, Johnny Jones and wife Sue of Mt. Holly; two sisters, Mary Parker of Oklahoma, Wilma Adair and husband Albert of Atlanta, Georgia and a very special friend, Lucille Goforth of Belmont.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Carothers Funeral Home, 412 South Main Street, Stanley.
Inurnment will be private for the family at a later date.
Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 40 years, Karla Cook Jones; daughter, Sherry Jones Grier; sister, Ellen.
