Born on September 21, 1958, in Greenville, South Carolina, Mike graduated from Hillcrest High School before continuing his education at Greenville School of Technology and the Citadel. He later attended Clemson University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Mike proudly served his country in the United States Navy Reserve and went on to build a successful career in mechanical engineering, working for Mann+Hummel (previously known as Wix Filtration). Known for his innovation and dedication, he was granted a patent for a self-locking bowl retainer for a filter assembly — an accomplishment that reflected both his intelligence and creativity.
On February 25, 1988, Mike married the love of his life, Sandy Lasley. Together they built a life rooted in faith, and family.
Mike had a passion for Motorcycles, firearms, listening to music, watching movies and working with his hands. His quiet strength, steady presence, bear hugs, and warm sense of humor will be deeply missed.
He was predeceased by his father, William "Bill" Lasley and his mother, Mary "Peggy" Waller Lasley.
He is survived by his wife, Sandy Lasley; his children, Brian (Megan) Lasley and Rebecca Lasley; his siblings, Gregory (Nicole) Lasley, and Linda Lasley May; his sister-in-law, Debbie Schell and her husband Steve; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, including Matthew Garrett, Amber (Connor) Klokocnik, William and Dylan Lasley, and great-nieces Addison Garrett & Grace Gilliland.
Mike will be remembered as a, devoted husband, loving father, brother, uncle, whose legacy lives on in the lives he touched.
Family and friends are invited to Carothers Funeral Home in Stanley, NC for a visitation from 3-5pm on Saturday, March 7th as well as a graveside service at Fairview Presbyterian church in Fountain Inn, SC the following week at 3pm on Saturday, March 14th.
Mike Lasley experienced debilitating nerve pain in his jaw for the last 2 and a half years of his life, so in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The Facial Pain Research Foundation to support research to find a cure and develop therapies for trigeminal neuralgia and related neuropathic facial pain.
