

A World War II veteran, Ralph proudly served with the famous first infantry division “Big Red One.”
Ralph was an integral part of the Stanley Community. He was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Stanley and enjoyed working with the Baptist Men’s Group. He was a Charter Member and Past Master of Masonic Lodge No. 0713, Charter Member of the Stanley Rescue Squad, Charter Member and Past President of the Stanley Optimist Club and a member of American Legion Post 0266 for 75 years.
After retiring as a Supervisor at Talon, Inc., Ralph began making country furniture. Out of his love for this new found hobby, he and his wife opened “Down Home Woodcraft” in Stanley. He also enjoyed the many friends that he made while working at The WoodShed Steakhouse.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in passing by his sister, Ruby Mauney Hovis and brothers, Robert J. Mauney and Raymond Mauney (infant).
Ralph was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He leaves behind his wife of 74 years, Billie Jean Mattox Mauney; son, Michael R. Mauney (Barbara); daughter, Catherine Mauney-Eden (Harvey); granddaughter, Michelle Mauney Lowery (Jonathan) and great granddaughter, Hannah Lowery.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at Hillcrest Memory Gardens, 1508 Charles Raper Jonas Hwy., Mt. Holly, NC 28120. Pastor Jason Ballard will be officiating. Military honors will be rendered along with a Masonic Service.
The family request that memorials be made to Hospice and Palliative Care, Charlotte Region or to the Humane Society.
