Richard "Buddy" Calvin Shoufler

A native of Milford, Illinois, he was the son of the late Jesse Wayne and Helen Scott Shoufler.

Mr. Shoufler retired from Piedmont Natural Gas Company.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Margaret Walker Shoufler; children, Fran Bortz and husband David of Charlotte, Cindy Watson and husband Allen of Alexis, Scott Shoufler and wife Brenda of Gastonia, Darryl Shoufler and wife Teresa of Charlotte; grandchildren, Matthew and Stephanie Bortz, Shawn Watson and wife Heather, Amy Watson, Curtis Gardner, Kelsey and Wesley Shoufler.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Jerold Shoufler; and great grandson, Seth Watson.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Spencer Mountain Baptist Church with Rev. Conley Matlock officiating.

Graveside service will be 3:00 p.m. at Walker Family Cemetery in Wilkes County.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday at Carothers Funeral Home in Stanley.
